Day 1: DEPART FROM DENVER

We depart Denver Airport on an overnight flight to Rome. Dinner and breakfast will be served on the flight. Quotes for add-on flights and optional Premium Economy and Business Class upgrades are available upon request. We work with group airfares, which do not permit seat selection. If you wish to reserve specific seats on the flights, we recommend purchasing your own airline tickets and the land-only option with us.

Day 2: WELCOME TO ITALY – ORVIETO – ASSISI

Location: Orvieto, Province of Terni, Italy

A wonderful experience awaits as we arrive in Rome Airport to meet the Select International Tours travel manager, who will accompany us throughout the entire trip. We are on our way to Assisi, the charming city of birds and silence, home to St. Francis, St. Clare, and our newest Saint, Carlo Acutis. On the way, we stop in the hilltop town of Orvieto for a visit to the Cathedral of Orvieto, which houses the Miracle of the Eucharist of Bolsena, and to celebrate Mass. Continue to our hotel for dinner and a well-deserved night of rest in Assisi. (D) **This day’s itinerary is dependent on the arrival schedule.

Day 3: ASSISI

Location: Assisi, Province of Perugia, Italy

This morning, we explore the Basilica of St. Clare and the Chapel of San Damiano, where St. Francis received his call to rebuild the Church and where St. Clare lived and died. We visit the Sanctuary of the Spoliation to see the tomb of St. Carlo Acutis in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore. Continue to the Basilica of St. Francis, where you will see Giotto’s frescoes depicting the life of St. Francis. Then, proceed to the lower Basilica and the Tomb of St. Francis. Mass will be celebrated in one of the chapels of the magnificent Basilica. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight in Assisi. (B.D)

Day 4: CASCIA – ASSISI

Location: Cascia, Province of Perugia, Italy

After breakfast, we drive from Assisi to Cascia, home of St. Rita. We visit the Basilica of St. Rita and view the saint’s incorrupt body. Mass will be celebrated. Departing Cascia, we return to Assisi, stopping at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. (B.D)

Day 5: SIENA – ROME

Location: Siena, Province of Siena, Italy

This morning we checkout of our hotel in Assisi and drive to Siena, where you can see the famous Piazza del Campo, known for its horse races. We see the relics of St. Catherine, the patron Saint of Italy, at St. Dominic Church, where we celebrate Mass, and visit the Church of St. Francis where the Miracle of the Eucharist is housed. Continue to Rome for the hotel check-in. Enjoy dinner at the hotel, followed by our first overnight stay in Rome. Our hotel is centrally located, and you may wish to explore the area and try some espresso or gelato after dinner. (B.D)

Day 6: VATICAN TREASURES: ST. PETER’S BASILICA AND VATICAN MUSEUM – ST. PAUL OUTSIDE THE WALLS

Location: Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Italy

We start the day with early Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica (TBC), followed by a guided visit to the largest church in Christendom, built on the site where St. Peter was martyred. Unsurpassed in beauty, a monument to the long history of the Catholic Church, which draws pilgrims from around the world, St. Peter’s is the grandest of the world’s churches. Our visit is accompanied by headsets, allowing each pilgrim to benefit from a clear explanation of what they are seeing. We also visit the Vatican Museum (TBC), where we see the Raphael Rooms, the Sistine Chapel, and much more. Following lunch, our visits of the Basilicas continue with a visit to St. Paul Outside the Walls, where the great saint is buried. Next, we visit the Tre Fontane Convent to see where St. Paul was beheaded and the nearby Our Lady of Revelation Shrine. Dinner is on your own tonight. (B)

Day 7: MONTE CASSINO – NETTUNO

Location: Monte Cassino, Cassino, Province of Frosinone, Italy

Our full-day excursion takes us outside of Rome for a visit to the historic Benedictine Monastery of Monte Cassino, perched high on the hill overlooking magnificent valleys filled with vineyards and country homes. We tour the Monastery and the Library and celebrate Mass. Following the included lunch we drive to the seaside town of Nettuno, where we will visit the Sanctuary of St. Maria Goretti. Today is Memorial Day, and while we visit the American Cemetery and Memorial, we pay our respects to the brave fallen soldiers. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B.L.D)

Day 8: ROME AT LEISURE

Location: Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Italy

This morning we celebrate Mass followed by a day at leisure to explore Rome on your own. You may want to visit a museum or explore the city center, but be sure to do some research online to plan your day and purchase museum tickets in advance. Dinner is at leisure. (B)

Day 9: PAPAL AUDIENCE – MAJOR BASILICAS

Location: Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Italy

We depart early for St. Peter’s Square this morning to attend the Papal Audience, where the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, blesses us. What a thrill it is for us to see the first American Pope! Following the Papal Audience and the included lunch, we explore St. Mary Major Basilica, where we celebrate Mass. Next we visit St. John Lateran and the Holy Stairs. Before we end the day we stop at the Trevi Fountain, where we can toss a coin and make a wish. Dinner is at the hotel. Overnight in Rome. (B.L.D)

Day 10: RETURN TO USA
