Day 1: DEPART USA – ARRIVAL MEXICO CITY*

Location : USA

We meet at the hotel in Mexico City for a welcome dinner and orientation meeting. *According to arrival time, we might arrange a first visit to the Shrine of Our Lady if the majority of the arrivals are before 1 PM. Overnight Mexico City. (D) Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated daily.

Day 2: MEXICO CITY – ATOTONILCO – SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE

Location : San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico

After an early breakfast, we head to Atotonilco, to visit the baroque splendor of the Shrine of Jesus the Nazarene, a World Heritage Site and known as “The Sistine Chapel of the Americas and we will stop at the beautiful colonial town of San Miguel de Allende to visit its old city center and the Church of San Miguel Archangel. Mass will be celebrated .Overnight and dinner in San Miguel de Allende. (B.D.)

Day 3: CERRO DEL CUBILETE – ENCARNACION DIAZ – SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS

Location : San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico

We head for the Cerro del Cubilete, the third most popular pilgrimage destination in Mexico. At the base of the mountain, we will visit the Shrine of Saint Mary of the Martyrs, housing the relics of the 25 martyrs canonized by Saint John Paul II. Following the local pilgrim’s tradition, we will pray our way on foot to the mountain’s peak, where we will adore the Blessed Sacrament at the National Shrine of Christ the King. After Mass, we will continue to Encarnacion de Diaz, in the state of Jalisco, where we visit the Center for Cristero Studies Alfredo Hernandez Quesada. The Center’s museum has a varied archive of photographs, clothing, arms, oral and video history records, and relics stemming from the Cristero War. We will continue to San Juan de los Lagos. We visit the Shrine of our Lady the second most visited Shrine in Mexico. Dinner and overnight in San Juan de Los Lagos. (B.D.)

Day 4: SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS – TEOCATITAN DE GUADALUPE – SANTA ANA DE GUADALUPE – SAN JULIAN – GUADALAJARA

Location : Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico

Our pilgrimage route takes us next to Teocatitlan de Guadalupe to visit the Shrine of Saint Pedro Esqueda, close to the spot where he received martyrdom. We will continue to the Shrine of Saint Toribio Romo in Santa Ana de Guadalupe, where we will celebrate Mass. Saint Toribio is the most well-known of the canonized martyrs and is a beloved miracle worker, Patron of the many migrants, who head north to provide for their families. Before leaving to our today ́s final destination, we will stop at the birthplace of the Cristiada, in San Julian Jalisco. We will pay special homage to Saint Julio Alvarez, the priest whose execution is memorialized in the film ‘For Greater Glory. We arrive in Guadalajara, dinner, and overnight. (B.D.)

Day 5: SAHUAYO – GUADALAJARA

Location : Sahuayo, Michoacán, Mexico

Today, we will drive to Sahuayo, Michoacan. We will devote our visit today to Saint Jose Sanchez del Rio, canonized in October of 2016 and the youngest of the Cristero martyrs. We will stop at the church of Saint James Apostle, where Saint Joselito was held prisoner when government troops turned the church into a military barracks. Here repose his principal relics and we will celebrate Mass at his shrine. In Guadalajara, we visit the Cathedral with the ossuary consisting of a glass cabinet that exhibits the bones of 23 of the martyred saints of the Cristero Revolution, followed by a visit of the city center with its historical buildings and government palaces, as well as the elegant Degollado Theater. Dinner and overnight in Guadalajara. (B.D.)

DAY 6: GUADALAJARA – PATZCUARO – MORELIA

Location : Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, Mexico

Following breakfast, we will head to Patzcuaro, in this romantic colonial town, we can wander through its artisan’s market or reflect on the week past at the shores of lake Janitzio. We visit the beautiful little town before we continue to Morelia for Mass. Dinner, and overnight. (B.D.)

DAY 8, OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

Location : Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico

Today we will celebrate the Anniversary of our Lady’s apparitions at the Shrine of Guadalupe. We arrive early at Tepeyac, the most frequented pilgrimage site in all of Mexico. Here, at the renowned National Basilica of Saint Mary of Guadalupe and at the feet of Saint Juan Diego’s Tilma. We celebrate Mass and spend time in prayer and reflection at the Shrine. In the afternoon, we visit the Father Pro Museum and the Church of la Sagrada Familia. We then visit the floating gardens, followed by a farewell dinner in a local restaurant and a Mariachi band’s festive tunes. Overnight Mexico City. (B. Special dinner)
