Day 2: ARRIVE IN TEL AVIV

Location : Tel Aviv, Israel

Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, we meet our Christian guide who assists with our transfer to a hotel located on the beach in Tel Aviv. Enjoy time to relax, perhaps take a swim or walk on the Mediterranean shore. Our only activities today are Mass and dinner. Overnight in Tel Aviv. (D.)

Day 3: NAZARETH – CANA

Location : Nazareth, Israel

We begin our pilgrimage with a visit to Mt. Precipice, overlooking the Jezreel Valley. Travel to the nearby town of Nazareth to visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, where we celebrate Mass, and Saint Joseph’s Church. Next, we continue to the site of the first miracle in Cana and have an opportunity for marriage vow renewals. Following a stop at the Valley of the Doves, we proceed to our hotel. Lunch is included today. Dinner and overnight on the Sea of Galilee. (B.L.D.)

Day 4: SEA OF GALILEE

Location : Sea of Galilee

This morning, we start the day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. Next, we travel to Caesarea Philippi to the site where Christ said, “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Mass is celebrated at Magdala. Lunch is included today. Dinner and overnight on the Sea of Galilee. (B.L.D.)

Day 5: CAPERNAUM – MT. OF BEATITUDES – TABGHA

Location : Mount of Beatitudes

Today we visit Capernaum and the church built over Peter’s home. Next, continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, the site of the Sermon on the Mount, where we celebrate Mass. From here, we proceed to Tabgha where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes. Lunch is included today. Dinner and overnight on the Sea of Galilee. (B.L.D.)

Day 6: MT. TABOR – MT. CARMEL – CAESAREA MARITIMA

Location : Caesarea Maritima, Israel

Our first stop today is at Mt. Tabor and the Church of Transfiguration where we celebrate Mass. We then drive toward the coast, stopping at Mt. Carmel to see the Stella Maris Monastery before arriving at Caesarea Maritima, the ancient port from which St. Paul sailed on his Missionary Journeys. Our drive then continues to Bethlehem where we check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B.L.D.)

Day 7: BETHLEHEM – SHARING THE BREAD DINNER

Location : Bethlehem

Today we spend the day in Bethlehem. We visit Shepherd’s Field where we celebrate Mass. Next we walk to the Milk Grotto, the Manger Square, and the Church of the Nativity. Lunch is included today. In the afternoon we do some shopping to support local Palestinian Christians. Tonight we join local Christians in their homes for a special “Sharing the Bread” dinner. Overnight in Bethlehem. Day 8: JERUSALEM

Location : Jerusalem, Israel

Today we are in the Holy City of Jerusalem. We visit the Mount of Olives and walk the Palm Sunday Road to Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Then continue into the Garden of Gethsemane. We visit the Church of Agony, where we celebrate Mass, and the nearby empty tomb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Lunch is on your own today. This afternoon, we tour a local market and have time at leisure to enjoy the Old City of Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B.D.)

Day 9: JERUSALEM – EIN KAREM

Location : Ein Karem, Jerusalem, Israel

This morning we visit Mount Zion to see Saint Peter in Gallicantu, Dormition Abbey, the Upper Room, and King David’s Tomb. Next, we drive to Ein Karem to the Church of the Visitation and the birthplace of Saint John the Baptist, where we celebrate Mass. Lunch is included today. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Day 10: OLD CITY JERUSALEM

Location : Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem

We begin the day with an early morning walk along the Via Dolorosa, ending with Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. We explore the Church of Saint Ann and the Pools of Bethesda. Then continue to Ecce Homo and Judgment Hall, where Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate. Our day ends with a visit to the Western Wall where we can tuck a prayer into the sacred wall as many have done before us, including St. John Paul II. Lunch is on your own today. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner with wine at a local restaurant. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B. Special dinner)

November 4, Saturday Day 11: Going to Jordan

This morning we cross into Jordan. We head to Madaba to see the oldest map of the Holy Land, which is a mosaic on a church floor. While in Madaba, we dine at the excellent Haret Jdoudna restaurant. Then visit Mount Nebo to see where Moses saw the Promised Land before his death. We celebrate Mass here and then head south to Petra for an overnight. Lunch is included today. Dinner and overnight in Petra. (B.L.D.)

November 5, Sunday, Day 12: Petra

This will be the best day ever! We enter Petra with our guide just as the park opens. We walk the Siq, an amazing gorge that leads to the famous Treasury. Once here, enjoy time on your own to hike and explore. Lunch is included today. This afternoon, we drive to Amman for dinner and overnight. Mass will be celebrated. (B.L.D.)
