Day 2: WELCOME TO THE HOLY LAND!

Location : Bethlehem, Israel

Upon arrival at Tel Aviv Airport, we collect our luggage, and once we clear customs, we meet our Christian guide in the arrivals hall. He will assist us with boarding our motorcoach for our transfer to the hotel in Bethlehem. We celebrate Mass upon arrival and enjoy a late cold supper together. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Bethlehem. (D)

Day 3: BETHLEHEM – SHARING THE BREAD DINNER

Location : Bethlehem, Israel

We visit the Church of Nativity as well as St.Catherine’s Church next door and the Grotto of St. Jerome to celebrate Mass. Following Mass, we drive a short distance to see Shepherd’s Field and Grotto. We return to our hotel to freshen up before we are split up into smaller groups of 3 or 4 people and transferred to local Christian homes, where we enjoy a home-cooked meal as part of our Sharing the Bread program. Day 4: BETHANY – QUMRAN – MASADA

Location : Masada, Israel

Our first stop today will be Bethany, the home of Lazarus, Mary, and Martha, where we celebrate Mass and visit Lazarus’ tomb. Then we’re off to Masada for a cable car ride to the hilltop fortress. On our way, we stop at Qumran and the caves where the shepherds found the Dead Sea Scrolls. Overnight in Bethlehem. (B, D)

Day 5: CAESAREA MARITIMA – MT CARMEL – CANA – NAZARETH

Location : Cana, Israel

Following breakfast, our journey starts with a visit to Caesarea Maritima, the ancient harbor from which St. Paul set off to spread the Good News! Following a coffee break in the port, we continue to Mt. Carmel to visit the Monastery of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Elijah’s Grotto. In Cana, the site of Jesus’ first miracle, married couples can renew their wedding vows, and pilgrims may purchase Cana wine! (Be sure to bring your wedding bands). In the afternoon, we visit Nazareth to see St. Joseph’s Church and, time permitting, Mary’s Well. We celebrate Mass at the Basilica. Overnight in Tiberias. (B, D)

Day 6: GALILEE – CAPERNAUM – MT OF BEATITUDES – TABGHA – MAGDALA

Location : Mount of Beatitudes

We explore the Sea of Galilee area. Our first experience of the day is a visit to the Jesus Boat Museum, which contains an ancient boat from the time of Jesus. We then take a peaceful boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. At the Church of Peter’s Primacy, we celebrate Mass, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, and see the same statue of St. Peter as the one in the Vatican. Continue with a visit to Tabgha and the Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes. We visit Magdala, home of St. Mary Magdalene, and enjoy a hearty lunch of St. Peter’s fish. In the afternoon, we visit the Mount of the Beatitudes and Capernaum to see the house of St. Peter. Overnight Tiberias. (B, L, D)

Day 7: MT. TABOR, JERICHO- MT. OF TEMPTATION, BAPTISMAL SITE, DEAD SEA, JERUSALEM

Location : Dead Sea Region, Israel

Following breakfast, ascend the windy roads of Mount Tabor to the Basilica of the Transfiguration, where we celebrate Mass. We then visit Jericho, the first city captured by Joshua as part of his conquest of the Land. It’s also the harrowing location of Jesus’ temptation by the Devil. We take a cable car to the top of Mt. of Temptation before we visit the Baptismal site on the River Jordan. We have time to float in the Dead Sea and shop for mineral-rich Dead Sea products (Don’t forget to pack a bathing suit). Drive to Jerusalem and check into our hotel. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B, L, D)

Day 8: TEMPLE MOUNT – MOUNT OF OLIVES – MOUNT ZION

Location : Mount of Olives, Jerusalem

We start the day visiting the Temple Mount, the place where the First and Second Temple once stood. We walk to the original location of the city of Jerusalem, going back in history 3000 years. Continue with a visit to the Ascension Chapel and the Church of the Pater Noster. We’ll marvel at the views from the Mount of Olives, as we walk down Palm Sunday Road towards the Old City of Jerusalem, stopping at the Church of Dominus Flevit. We’ll pray at the Garden of Gethsemane and celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Agony. After lunch, we’ll visit the ruins of Caiaphas’ Palace under the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. We finish our day with a visit to the Upper Room or Cenacle. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D

Day 9: VIA DOLOROSA – HOLY SEPULCHRE – OLD WALLED CITY

Location : Via Dolorosa, Jerusalem

We start the day early by walking the Stations of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa, ending in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher where we celebrate Mass. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Later in the day, we stop to tuck a prayer into the Wailing Wall, the holiest place for Jewish people before continuing to visit St. Anne’s Church and the Pools of Bethesda, and the Chapel of Flagellation. We have the afternoon at leisure in the Old City or an opportunity to return to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D)

Day 10: EIN KAREM – FAREWELL DINNER

Location : Ein Karem, Jerusalem, Israel

This morning we depart for Ein Karem to visit the Church of St. John the Baptist and Church of the Visitation, commemorating the visit of the Virgin Mary to Elizabeth and her famous Magnificat. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Jerusalem on our own. Tonight, enjoy our farewell dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Jerusalem.
