Day 1: DEPART FROM U.S.A

Depart from Albuquerque International Airport on an overnight flight to Rome. Dinner and breakfast will be served on the plane. Quotes for add-on flights from different airports, as well as optional Premium Economy and Business Class upgrades, are available upon request and will be provided starting 120 days before departure. Group air restrictions (for ten passengers traveling together) do not permit specific seating requests on flights. We recommend purchasing your own airline tickets and land-only packages with us if seat confirmation is an essential part of your trip. Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact your trip Account Manager, who will be happy to assist you.

Day 2: ROME

Location: Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Italy

Welcome to Rome! Upon arrival, we meet our English-speaking guide, board our motorcoach, and depart to visit the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, where we celebrate Mass. Nearby, we see the Tre Fontane Convent, where St. Paul was beheaded. After lunch at leisure, we proceed to our hotel for dinner and a well-deserved night of rest. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (D)

Day 3: ROME – PAPAL AUDIENCE

Location: Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Italy

After breakfast, we board our motorcoach and head for St. Peter’s Square, where we attend the Papal Audience with Pope Leo and celebrate Mass. After lunch, the rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the Eternal City on your own. (We can offer some tips if you need suggestions, although there are no wrong turns in Rome. Explore, eat, enjoy!). Dinner is at leisure. Overnight in Rome. (B. Special lunch)

Day 4: ANCIENT ROME

Location: Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Italy

Today, we are introduced to some of the most fascinating city sights during the Ancient Rome tour. Visit the Colosseum (inside view) and the Roman Forum (outside view), the Trevi Fountain, the Church of the Gesú (which includes the tomb of St. Ignatius Loyola and a relic of St. Francis Xavier), Santa Maria Sopra Minerva (which houses the sarcophagus of St. Catherine of Siena), and the Pantheon. Mass will be celebrated at Casa Santa Maria, located within a 17th-century cloister. Tonight we visit Piazza Navona with its beautiful fountains before enjoying dinner at a local Ristorante. Day 5: CHRISTIAN ROME

Location: Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Italy

This morning, we celebrate Mass and visit St. Peter’s Basilica, followed by a visit to the Vatican Museums. After lunch on our own, we continue with visits to the major basilicas, exploring St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, and the Holy Stairs next door. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B.D)

Day 6: ORVIETO – ASSISI

Location: Orvieto, Province of Terni, Italy

We depart this morning after breakfast, crossing the Chianti Hills and the lush Umbrian Valley to arrive in Orvieto, where we take the funicular to the upper town. Explore the stunning Orvieto Cathedral and witness the Miracle of the Eucharist of Bolsena. Then, enjoy lunch and a taste of one of the most famous Italian white wines, Orvieto Superiore DOC, at a Local Ristorante. Following some leisure time, we celebrate Mass in the Cathedral. We continue to Assisi, where we check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B. Special lunch. D)

Day 7: ASSISI

Location: Assisi, Province of Perugia, Italy

This morning we visit the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, which houses the Porziuncola, one of the most sacred places for those who love St. Francis of Assisi. We reach the Basilica of St. Francis and celebrate Mass. After lunch, continue to the Convent of San Damiano, where St. Francis received his call to rebuild the Church and where St. Clare lived and died. Then, return to St. Francis Basilica, where our guide will provide an introduction to the upper Basilica, featuring Giotto’s frescoes that represent the life of St. Francis. Next, explore the lower Basilica and the Tomb of St. Francis. Continue to the Basilica of St. Clare and then to the Church of St. Mary Major, also known as the Sanctuary of Spoliation, to see the place where St. Francis of Assisi was baptized and the tomb of St. Carlo Acutis. Enjoy a restaurant dinner tonight. Overnight in Assisi. (B.D)

Day 8: SIENA AND WINERY VISIT – FLORENCE

Location: Siena, Province of Siena, Italy

After breakfast, we board our motorcoach and drive to Siena, where we visit St. Dominic Cathedral to see the reliquary containing St. Catherine of Siena’s skull and celebrate Mass. Then we walk to the shellshaped Piazza del Campo, famous for the Palio horse races. Although it requires climbing lots of steps, this beautiful piazza is worth the effort! Here we enjoy lunch and time at leisure. In the afternoon, we stop at a local winery to learn about Tuscan wine production and enjoy a wine tasting. From here, we continue to Florence for dinner and an overnight stay. (B.D)

Day 9: FLORENCE

Location: Florence, Metropolitan City of Florence, Italy

After breakfast, we explore the city many consider the cultural heart of Italy. We celebrate Mass at Santa Croce, where Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli are buried. Although his remains are elsewhere, the poet Dante is also memorialized here with an empty tomb. We visit some of the most important sites in Florence, including the Duomo and the Baptistery, with its golden doors (outside views). After a break for lunch at leisure, we continue to the Accademia Gallery to see the famous statue of David by Michelangelo. The rest of the afternoon and dinner are at leisure to explore the city. Overnight in Florence. (B)

Day 10: PADUA

Location: Padua, Province of Padua, Italy

Following breakfast, we drive to Padua. Visit the historic center, where bridges and picturesque spots punctuate criss-crossed canals. Visit the Chapel of Scrovegni (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) with its Giotto frescoes, and the Basilica of Saint Anthony, featuring the tomb and reliquaries of this miracle-working saint. St. Anthony was a powerful Franciscan preacher and teacher. He was born in Lisbon in 1195 and died outside Padua in 1231, having led a short but intense religious life. We celebrate Mass at St. Anthony’s Basilica. Dinner and overnight in Padua. (B.D)

Day 11: VENICE

Location: Venice, Metropolitan City of Venice, Italy

After breakfast at the hotel, a short drive takes us to Venice. Enter the city by private motorboat and see the sights with our local guide. Visit the lavish Doges’ Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, St. Mark’s Square, and its Basilica. Lunch is on your own. We celebrate Mass at St. Mark’s Basilica (TBC). Spend time at leisure or take an optional gondola ride. Then, return to Padua for the farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Padua. (B. Special dinner)
