Day 1: DEPART FROM THE USA

We depart from Memphis or a NYC area Airport on an overnight flight to Warsaw. Dinner and breakfast are served on the plane. Quotes for add-on flights and optional Premium Economy and Business Class upgrades are available upon request and will be quoted starting 120 days before departure. Due to group air restrictions, we cannot request specific flight seats. If this is an essential trip feature, please book land only with us and arrange your own air.

Day 2: WARSAW

Location : Warsaw, Poland

Welcome to Poland! We are met by our tour manager who will assist us with boarding the motor coach. We begin our journey by visiting the Shrine of the Divine Providence, a complex considered a national and religious symbol for the country. The temple commemorates key events in Poland’s history with divine inspiration. We celebrate Mass in the Shrine, followed by a visit to the Museum of St. John Paul II and Cardinal Wyszynski, the Last Polish Primate, a mentor of Bishop and then Archbishop Wojtyla. Thanks to the encouragement of Cardinal Wyszynski, Cardinal Wojtyła accepted the choice of the College of Cardinals in 1978. Tonight we have a welcome dinner with wine at our hotel. Overnight in Warsaw. (Dinner with wine)

Day 3: NIEPOKALANOW

Location : Niepokalanów, Paprotnia, Poland

We start with a morning visit to Niepokolanów for a visit to the Shrine of Our Mary Immaculate in Niepokalanów and the Franciscan Monastery, which St. Maximillian Kolbe founded. We celebrate Mass here. Upon returning to Warsaw, we have a city tour including the Old Town, the marketplace, Lazienska Park, the Chopin Monument, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Royal Castle (outside view), St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, and the 14th-century Cathedral of St. John. We also see the convent of St. Faustina. Overnight in Warsaw with dinner at the hotel. (B.D)

Day 4: CZESTOCHOWA

Location : Częstochowa, Poland

Today, we follow in St. John Paul II’s footsteps to Jasna Gora Monastery, housing the Black Madonna and incredible relics, including the blood-stained sash worn by St. John Paul II during the assassination attempt on his life in 1981. Explore the Pauline Monastery with its priceless treasures, including the Miraculous Icon and the Treasury. Mass will be celebrated in Czestochowa, where we have time for prayer and reflection. Overnight in Kraków. (B.D)

Day 5: AUSCHWITZ – WIELICZKA SALT MINES – KRAKOW

Location : Auschwitz, Poland

We follow St. John Paul II to the former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the biggest death factory in the history of humanity and the silent witness of human tragedy. We see the cell of St. Maximillian Kolbe, who was martyred there on Aug. 14, 1941. This afternoon, we will explore the Wieliczka Salt Mines, which have been used for over 700 years and contain many fascinating statues, chapels, and reliefs carved from salt. Before he was pope, Karol Wojtyta visited this site, known as the “Underground Salt Cathedral of Poland.” Here we celebrate Mass. Overnight in Kraków with dinner at the hotel. (B.D)

Day 6: KRAKÓW

Location : Kraków, Poland

We spend the morning seeing the sights of ancient Kraków, which has been the residence of the Polish Kings for centuries. See the Market Square, Jagiellonian University (which dates back to the 14th century and was where St. John Paul II studied and taught), and Wawel Hill (including the Cathedral and the Royal Castle). Among the inspirational sights we see today is the St. Stanislaus Shrine, which contains the relics of Poland’s famous patron saint in a silver coffin. After seeing the Holy Cross Chapel, Wawel Cathedral, and Sigismund Chapel, we visit St. Mary’s Church, where we can hear the silver trumpet call every hour. Mass will be celebrated here. Our visit includes the Archdiocesan Museum, which houses a reconstructed “Pope’s Room” and the famous “Pope’s Window.” We drive by the Blonie Fields, where St. John Paul II celebrated Mass for millions of pilgrims on his first visit to Poland as pontiff. This is where Pope Francis celebrated the Vigil Mass during the World Youth Day 2016 celebration in Kraków. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city on our own. This is also an opportunity to visit the private home of Jan Tyranowski, who was central in forming a young Karol Wojtyla by introducing him to the writings of St. John of the Cross. Tonight, dinner is at leisure to enjoy in one of the many cafés in the Market Square. Overnight in Kraków. (B)

Day 7: WADOWICE – KALWARIA

Location : Kraków, Poland

Today, we head to Wadowice, the birthplace of St. John Paul II. We see the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where he was baptized, and celebrate Mass in this holy site. Next, we tour the home where he was born, now a museum. During our lunch break, we can taste his favorite dessert, which he enjoyed daily, in one of the many cafés on the square. Continue to the Franciscan Monastery with 43 Chapels honoring the Way of the Cross, the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, and Seven Sorrows in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. Return to Kraków for dinner and overnight. (B.D)

Day 8: ZAKOPANE

Location : Zakopane, Poland

We drive to the mountain region of Zakopane, where we celebrate Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, built with local lumber by the highlanders in gratitude to Our Lady of Fatima for her protection of St. Pope John Paul II during the assassination attempt on his life in 1981. Weather permitting, we take a Funicular Railway to the Gubalowka, where we have lunch and time at leisure. We have a view of the city and Sleeping Soldier Mountain, Giewont, with the metal Cross on top of it. Return to Kraków for an overnight and dinner at the hotel. (B.Special lunch.D)

Day 9: DIVINE MERCY – ST. FAUSTINA – ST. JOHN PAUL II CENTER

Location : Kraków, Poland

After breakfast, we follow the footsteps of St. John Paul II to the Shrine of Divine Mercy to see St. Faustina’s convent chapel and her tomb. We celebrate Mass at the Shrine of Divinity, which St. John Paul II dedicated on his last visit to Poland in 2002. We then visit the nearby St. John Paul II “Have No Fear Center,” where we pray by the pope’s relics. Tonight, we enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant featuring a folklore show. Overnight in Kraków. (B.Special dinner)
