Day 2: WELCOME TO ROME

Location : Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy

Upon arrival in Rome, we meet our English-speaking tour manager who assists us to our motor coach. We start our visit by celebrating Mass at St. Paul Outside the Walls. Then continue to Tre Fontane Convent where St. Paul was beheaded. Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Rome. (D.)

Day 3: PAPAL AUDIENCE – CITY TOUR

Location : Vatican City

Early this morning, we make our way to St. Peter’s Basilica and take our seats for the Papal Audience. We celebrate Mass and have a walking tour of the center of Rome including Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Dinner is at the hotel. Overnight in Rome (B.D.)

Day 4: CROSSROADS OF CHRISTIANITY

Location : Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy

Today, our guided tour of Christian Rome includes visits to St. Mary Major Basilica, where we celebrate Mass, St. John Lateran and the Holy Stairs. We also tour the excavations at St. Clement Basilica. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to explore Rome on your own. Dinner is at leisure. Overnight in Rome. (B.)

Day 5: VATICAN TREASURES

Location : Vatican City

We celebrate Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica (TBC), visit the Vatican Museum and take a tour of the Scavi tunnels underneath the Vatican. Behind the Vatican Walls, a private tour takes us through the Vatican Gardens. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B.D.)

Day 6: ASSISI – SIENA

Location : Assisi, Province of Perugia, Italy

Driving through Umbria, we reach Assisi, the city of birds and silence. Our visit includes Mass at one of the chapels of St. Francis Cathedral and visits to St. Clare Church and St. Mary of the Angels. Then we continue to our hotel near Siena, our home for the next four nights. (B.D.)

Day 7: WINE TASTING IN TUSCANY – SAN GIMIGNANO

Location : Tuscany, Italy

Following a morning celebration of Mass, we head for the Wine Region of Chianti, in the heart of Tuscany. Learn about “Chianti Classico” at the Mazzei family’s Castello di Fonter-utoli Winery. Descend into the sprawling cellar of Le Cantine di Greve in Chianti for lunch of regional products. In the afternoon, we continue to San Gimignano, the epitome of a Tuscan hill town with fourteen remaining medieval towers and beautiful piazzas perfect for sipping coffee and appreciating all that is Italy! Enjoy free time to discover the ancient town on your own. Dinner is at leisure in San Gimignano before we return to our hotel near Siena. (B.L.)

Day 8: SIENA

Location : Siena, Province of Siena, Italy

Today we explore Siena, where we visit the Duomo, see the relics of St. Catherine who, along with St. Francis, is a Patron Saint of Italy, and celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis (TBC). Then enjoy time to explore this lovely city on our own (be prepared for strenuous walking). Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B.D.)

Day 9: FLORENCE

Location : Florence, Italy

Florence awaits us today! Upon arrival, we stop at Michelangelo Square for a panoramic view of the city. Our walking tour includes the Duomo and the Baptistery next door (outside view), the Ponte Vecchio and other highlights of the city. Mass is celebrated at the Basilica of the Holy Cross (TBC). The afternoon is at leisure to explore the city on your own. Perhaps visit the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David or the Uffizi Gallery. Return to our hotel near Siena for dinner and overnight. Day 10: ORVIETO – CASTEL GANDOLFO

Location : Orvieto, Province of Terni, Italy

Today, we depart for Orvieto where we visit the Duomo, famous for the Feast of Corpus Christi and the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena that is housed in the Cathedral. We celebrate Mass and enjoy lunch with local wine in the town. Continue to Castel Gandolfo, the quaint town where the Papal Summer residence is located, before our farewell dinner at the famous Pagnanelli Restaurant on the shores of Lake Gandolfo.
